Australian Client Suffers Rp80 Billion Loss Allegedly Due to Manipulation by Bali-Based Ship Agency

Thursday, 10 July 2025

Bali, WartaGlobalBali.Id – Thursday, July 10, 2025 – Fanisa Wilson Law Firm & Partners, in collaboration with LBH FKPPI BALI, a prominent legal firm, has revealed a suspected case of fraud and manipulation involving their client, an Australian national with the initials BDS. The client reportedly suffered material and immaterial losses totaling Rp80 billion in their efforts to establish a marine tourism business in Bali's waters in 2016.

Case Background

In 2016, BDS intended to develop a marine tourism business in Bali and appointed a ship agency company managed by a woman with the initials RP to handle vessel repairs, licensing, and management for the intended tourism fleet. However, during the process, several issues arose regarding the legitimacy of the agency company and its financial management, which are suspected to involve criminal elements.

Alleged Bad Faith Actions

Fanisa Wilson Law Firm & Partners stated that RP, as the manager of the ship agency, failed to act in good faith to resolve the emerging issues. Instead, the client suffered significant losses due to alleged manipulative actions by RP.

Losses Incurred by the Client

- Material Losses: Estimated at Rp30 billion, related to licensing fees, vessel repairs, and non-transparent business management.
- Immaterial Losses: Estimated at Rp50 billion, covering reputational damage, lost business opportunities, and psychological distress experienced by the client.

Legal Actions

Fanisa Wilson Law Firm & Partners and LBH FKPPI BALI are currently taking legal steps to ensure justice for their client. They urge authorities to investigate the alleged legal violations committed by RP and the ship agency company.

Message for Business Operators in Bali

This case serves as a warning for foreign investors looking to do business in Bali, particularly in the tourism sector. It is crucial to conduct due diligence when selecting business partners and ensure all legal processes are carried out transparently.

Fanisa Wilson Law Firm & Partners remains committed to supporting their client until the case is resolved and justice is served. (B13NY)
